Webcraft, s.r.o. ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through this Privacy Policy. This policy describes how the PDF Scanner App & Editor iOS application ("the App") handles information when you use it on your iPhone or iPad.
The App is a personal document scanner and PDF editor. We built it with privacy-by-default principles: the documents you scan, the PDFs you create, the recognized (OCR) text, folders, and tags stay on your device and, if you enable iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. We do not operate any backend server that collects, stores, or has access to your documents or their contents. The only off-device processing is the purchase information required to sell in-app subscriptions, which is handled directly by Apple.
To be unambiguous, the App does not collect, transmit, or store on any server operated by us:
We do not operate user accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into.
All content you create in the App — scanned documents, page images, generated PDFs, signatures, annotations, recognized text, folders, and tags — is stored on your device using Apple's local data frameworks (SwiftData) and the App's private storage in your device's file system.
If you are signed in to iCloud and have enabled iCloud sync in the App (a Premium feature), this content is also synchronized to your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) so it stays in sync across your own Apple devices. This data:
Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and iCloud Terms.
The App requests permission to use your device's camera so you can scan paper documents, receipts, passports, ID cards, and other pages. The camera feed is processed on your device to detect edges, capture pages, and create scans. We do not receive, transmit, or store the camera feed or the images it captures. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → PDF Scanner App & Editor → Camera.
The App requests permission to access your photo library so you can import existing photos to convert into PDFs and, if you choose, save scanned images back to your photo library. This access is used only when you actively pick or save an image, and it happens on your device. We do not receive, upload, or store your photo library or its contents. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → PDF Scanner App & Editor → Photos.
The App can extract text from your scans using Apple's on-device Vision framework. All text recognition is performed locally on your device. The recognized text is stored with your document on the device (and, if enabled, in your private iCloud) and is used to let you copy, edit, and search your documents. Recognized text is never sent to us or to any third party.
To help you find your documents from the iOS home screen, the App can index document titles and recognized text using Apple's on-device CoreSpotlight framework. This index is created and stored locally on your device by iOS. It is not transmitted to us. You can remove indexed content by deleting the document or uninstalling the App.
The App lets you export your documents as PDF, JPG, Word, PowerPoint, or plain-text files, and lets you password-protect a PDF before sharing it. Exports are generated on your device and shared only through the standard iOS share sheet to a destination you choose (e.g., Mail, Files, Messages, or another app). We do not receive, intercept, or store exported files. Any destination you send a file to is governed by that service's own privacy policy.
The App offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions ("Premium") that are sold and processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID, using Apple's StoreKit framework. We do not use any third-party subscription, payment, or analytics provider.
Apple's processing of your purchase is governed by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and Apple's Privacy Policy.
Aside from Apple's platform services (App Store, StoreKit, iCloud/CloudKit, Vision, CoreSpotlight), the App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs.
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 4 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Because we collect no personal data, the App is suitable for users of all ages, subject to parental discretion.
Your documents never reach any server operated by us. Data stored locally on your device is protected by iOS's built-in security mechanisms, including device encryption when you have a passcode set. Documents you password-protect are encrypted with the password you set; if you lose that password, we cannot recover the file. Data synchronized to your private iCloud database is protected and transmitted using Apple's encrypted infrastructure. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we rely on Apple's platform safeguards and collect nothing ourselves.
You have full control over your data directly within the App and through iOS system settings:
Because we hold no personal data about you on our own systems, there is no account data for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and California: we do not collect, process, or store personal data on our own infrastructure, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under the CCPA. Your documents reside on your device and in your own iCloud account; Apple acts as the provider of the iCloud and payment services you use. Where any limited processing occurs, the legal basis under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR is the performance of our contract with you (providing the App and the purchases you make).
We do not transfer your personal data internationally because we do not collect it. Any storage or transfer of your iCloud data and any processing of your payment are performed by Apple in accordance with Apple's own policies and safeguards.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App or for legal reasons. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through an App update. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
